What's happening at All Saints |
The number of domestic violence cases is on the rise in Queensland.
In Australia it’s currently estimated that around one in four women have previously experienced violence by an intimate partner, and one woman a week is murdered by her current or former partner.
In the wake of several fatal tragedies on the Gold Coast earlier in 2021, the event sought to raise much needed funds for women and families seeking refuge from domestic violence.
The All Saints Parents & Friends Association partnered with The Sanctuary Women, Children and Pets Refuge for the event, inviting the organisation’s founder Simone Patterson to be the keynote speaker.
Located in Currumbin, The Sanctuary provides a haven, education, case management and counselling for women and their families.
The shelter is not funded by the Government and relies solely on contributions from the community to operate.
Over $8,000 was raised for The Sanctuary at the Mother’s Day Morning Tea.
