The Brisbane Lions are premiers and All Saints alumni had a connection to the Grand Final on both sides of the field.
Family Pride in Lions Colours
For the Lions, alumni Will Ashcroft (Class of 2021, attended to Year 9) and Levi Ashcroft (Class of 2024, attended to Year 6) took to the game’s biggest stage, with proud parents Marcus and Bekky (Class of 1994) and sister Lucy (Class of 2027) cheering them on. Having played their part in a premiership win, the brothers are now part of the All Saints story in a whole new way.
An Influence at Fremantle
On the other side of the contest, alumnus David Walls (Class of 1996, attended to Year 11) has played an important role behind the scenes, helping shape the Dockers’ playing list through his work in recruiting and player personnel. Grand Final day is never easy for the side that falls just short, but it is a credit to David and the Dockers to have been playing for the flag.
A Familiar Voice on the Broadcast
And another familiar All Saints face was part of the action, with alumnus and AFL Hall of Famer Nick Riewoldt (Class of 1999) joining Channel 7’s coverage.
It was a special thing to see members of the All Saints community making their mark on the game, on the field, behind the scenes and in the commentary box. Their journeys are a reminder of the paths our students go on to take. Congratulations to Will, Levi and the entire Ashcroft family, and well done to David and everyone at Fremantle on a season to be proud of.
